Meet Peanut

The dog who came
from a dream

"If we can't buy a dog, I'll dream one!"

Too many mouths to feed already — so one night, lying in bed, James squeezed his eyes shut and imagined the loveliest little dog in all of Liverpool: a funny dog with big ears, bright eyes and a waggy bottom. Then came a tiny snuffle… and there was Peanut, sitting right on his bed. "He is real in my dream," said James, "and that's good enough for me!"

The Author

A storyteller, born & raised in Liverpool

"The house was small. The money was tight. But love was everywhere — that's the Liverpool I grew up in, and the one I wanted to put on every page."

James Wilkinson grew up in Liverpool in a cosy little home packed full of noise, laughter and love — with his Mum and Dad, his brother Michael, and his sisters Jan, Lynn, Paula, Kathy and Ann Marie. There was never much room, but there was always room for a dream.

A Little Liverpudlian is his own boyhood reimagined — a curly-haired little dreamer, a baker dad, a front room full of toys, and the funny little dog he wished into being. Written for his children and grandchildren, it's now a beautifully illustrated series for little dreamers everywhere.
